Ways to Minimize Large Pores
We are all born with unique facial features and a certain skin tone and skin type. Whether you have sensitive skin, oily or dry skin is determined by your genes. You happen to have large facial pores, I'm sorry, you can't change it but you certainly can make them look much smaller.
No. 1: Wash your face twice a day
You have large pores, it means that you have oily skin and that skin constantly produces dead cells - oil. Washing your face 2 times a day - morning and night, with a cleanser that contains salicylic acid can minimize the appeareance of your pores as they have the ability to unclog them.
No. 2: Use an oil-free moisturizer
Avoid using an oil based facial moisturizer, instead opt for the oil-free ones, especially the ones contain retinol. Retinol has the ability to boost collagen production of your face, therefore will help to minimize lareg pores over a period of using.
No. 3: Use sunscreen
Look for the ones that will protect you from both UVA and UVB with an SPF 30 or more. Sun burn not only enlarges your pores but also causes permanent skin damage.
No. 4: Use silicone based primer
If you dont't prep your face with a primer, your foundation will just end up sinking into the pores. Look for a silicone-based primer to create a smooth canvas before applying makeup.
No. 5: Use a matte foundation
Matte foundation will minimize the appearance of pores as sheer foundation will only highlight them. Avoid any oil-based foundation because they will clog your pores even more.
No. 6: Exfoliate weekly
Exfoliate your face once or twice a week with a facial scrub or loofah to keep it clean from dirt and oil that are deep in your pores causing them to dialate. Do not exfoliate too often, exfoliating everyday is a very bad idea. You may think that by exfoliating often, it will cleanse away the oil on your face in hope that it would reduce the oily effect. In fact, it is the opposite; if your skin is an oily type you cannot change this and stripping away the oil on your face too much will only tell your body that you need more oil.
No. 7: Dermatological treatments
If it gets really bad or worse, perhaps you may want to consult with your dermatologist about a few treatments. These are topical retinoid cream, chemical peel, laser-skin resurfacing, intense-pulsed-light treatment, or dermabrasion.
** Think about The Positive Side
At least your skin won't age as fast as any other skin types. Because oily skin looks less weinkled than dry skin as you age. :-)
